Ongoing university programming in Brazzaville developing leadership skills, business initiatives and strategic planning
Clinics + Partnerships
Brazzaville is the capital and the largest city in the Republic of Congo. It is home to L’ISEPS, The Higher Institute of Physical Education and Sports, a college within Marien Ngouabi University. On this campus, students can earn undergraduate, graduate & professional degrees in various physical education and sports-related studies, including sports science, coaching, inspector, strength & conditioning and other related specialties.
Campus background
Brazzaville hosted the 11th edition of the AFRICAN GAMES, “LES JEUX AFRICAINS,“ in 2015, where L’ISEPS now stands. The African Games, formally known as the All-Africa Games or the Pan African Games, are a continental multi-sport event held every four years, similar to the Olympic Games. These tournaments often leave behind incredible facilities such as stadiums, basketball arenas, handball courts, and swimming pools, infrastructure that requires costly upkeep, and oftentimes are neglected due to other priorities. On a campus tour, one sees basketball courts that no longer have hoops, soccer fields that are dirt fields with potholes, handball courts that have 80-90 students on them but not enough balls, taekwondo classes taught on wooden floors, etc.
What is not visible unless you ask questions, and lead with curiosity and care, is the drive and determination of every individual who works and attends the school. Despite the obstacles, in deteriorating infrastructure and insufficient training/classroom materials, professors and students do their best to make do with what they have, but their circumstances do not make this easy. We believe that education is an integral pillar of change that provides better opportunity to members of our community. Our program at l’ISEPS focuses on the transfer of knowledge in the form of seminars and trainings. Through these exchanges, we hope to promote and develop leadership/youth development skills, business initiatives and strategic planning. In places such as Brazzaville, Republic of Congo, a good education is the key to everything: a better quality of life, reducing poverty, improving health, reducing crime, improving social life, developing talent etc.
